The term "synod" describes a group of people who are "walking together." It is the term used to describe our church body, The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), as a group of Christians who are walking together in faith. We are "confessional" Lutherans; which means that we believe what the Lutheran Church say in its "Confessions" (which are theological writings of what we believe). The historic Lutheran Confessions are in the Book Of Concord of 1580.
